Er Djebel is 2.5 hour drive from Malaga airport. It's 197 km, mostly along the AP-7 (toll) and A7 coastal highways. There are some stunning views on along the way and Gibraltar can be seen for much of the journey.

Zahara is a 5 minute drive from Er Djebel. It still has the crumbling ruins of the Almadraba tuna depot. There is a wide clean beach with numerous bars and restaurants.
In July and August, there is a tented market and lots of entertainment on the beach 
In the narrow back streets, there are tiny cafes hidden away in odd corners that you can discover and enjoy.

The nearest towns are Barbate to the northwest and Tarifa to the southeast. Tarifa is the most southerly point in Spain, and its closest point to Africa; it is the Spanish center for windsurfing and other water sports. You can also visit the fantastic ruins of the Roman city Baelo Claudia on the way to Tarifa
